Sometimes the city shopping is too hetic. What’s wrong with trees and mountains we say? Downtown Woodstock is not for hicks as friend and Woodstock native Jen proves with a $1K visit to "Sugar" on Mill Hill Road. Anna Sui and Betsy Johnson are the ‘tame’ designers in this rockin boutique. Suit your inner diva, vintage feme-fatal, speed-metal cowgirl or just slip into a 50′s housewife with a valium smile as you re-discover that shopping isn’t boring!

Materials and craftsmanship get high marks. Prices are up there too, but worth a trip since store manager Anna can make you feel fabulous even when the PMS is fabulous.

Jen chose her rehersal dinner dress after just 3 outfits. But hey, you don’t have to get married to get up to Woodstock and discover the food and music not only up-to-date but also impressive, even to the most jaded ‘city-it’ ( as they say in the Catskills ).

Woodstock is 2 hours up the NY thruway, to exit 19 Kingston, to 28 West to the 375 Woodstock exit. Closer than the Hamptons and less….Hamptons…..but don’t tell anyone about it!
